Spokane Hotel-Motel Association
The Spokane Hotel-Motel Association (SHMA) consists of hospitality professionals as well as industry and community partners with the common goal of building and bettering hospitality in Spokane and the surrounding area. Whether you have a large, full service property, a smaller, niche market property, or anything in between, you and your property will benefit by participating in the group that is driving economic and tourism development in the Spokane region.
Driving business is important to all of us. The SHMA is responsible for creating the Tourism Promotion Area and maintains the administrative role for distributing the funds. As a hotelier in Spokane County, you are no doubt familiar with the fees you collect from your guests to build a fund dedicated specifically to tourism development in our area. Participating in our Association guarantees firsthand knowledge of and access to the process by which the funds are distributed.
Our non-profit group meets several times per year both in person and digitally to discuss industry appropriate topics such as economic development, the Tourism Promotion Area, current/upcoming events, and anything that might be affecting the industry. We invite community members to present to our group on topics that are pertinent to our business. We are always interested in educating our membership on community and industry appropriate topics. We maintain a close affiliation with the Washington Hospitality Association and share information between our groups on an on-going basis.
The cost of membership in the Spokane Hotel-Motel Association is minimal. Those funds facilitate the operational expenses of the Association and allow us to partner with the State Association for both state and local government affairs representation.
The SHMA exists to ensure the growth and success of the lodging industry in the Spokane area. We are dedicated to the interests and improvements of hotels, motels, and inns, and to promoting harmonious relations with allied industries to encourage participation in tourism promotion in the region.
